Today we went to the narrows in Beavercreek, I had never been before so I was super exited. We brought field journals with us so we could take notes and make sketches. We also tested certain properties of water and went to a big bird house.
In our field journals, each student was supposed to sketch something they thought was interesting. I decided to sketch some wildflowers. In my journal I estimated the measurement of the flowers, described the flowers, and explained how the leaves felt. I decided to sketch the wildflowers because they kind of looked like weeds. However, they were still pretty. I liked that they reminded me of weeds because I felt that they showed everything has beauty, even weeds.
Another fun part of my day was testing water. I learned about water quality and why it is important. Water quality is important because certain organisms need specific conditions to thrive. We tested PH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and saturation. Afterwards, we went to a big bird house. The house had separate rooms for each different type of bird, I saw owls and hawks.
Today was super fun, it has probably been one of my favorite days so far. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also got to have a lot of fun.
